AIFA and Prudential UK launch landmark research

With life expectancy at age 65 now almost 20 years for both men and women, the need to make best use of retirement assets is more important than ever. We need to offer the best possible products and service to consumers, and the right support to financial advisers.

Prudential and the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA) have partnered to conduct a landmark study into 'Income and Wealth in Retirement'.

Conducted by a team of specialist financial services consultants from Watson Wyatt, the study:

  • Reviews the current retirement and advice landscape in the UK.
  • Analyses consumer needs at and in retirement both now and in the future.
  • Engages consumers, consumer groups, providers, financial advisers, government and the Financial Services Authority to get a full range of opinion.

An Editorial Board including the Rt Hon. John Gummer MP, Lord Lipsey and representatives from the business, consumer and academic communities set the direction for the study and final report.

In addition to the report, the AIFA with the support of Prudential will also produce a set of Good Practice Notes for financial advisers.
