Commission

Regular Premiums

Initial commission is not available for new regular premium business on Premier pensions products.
Provided the premiums are at least £100 per month for non-Stakeholder individual Personal Pensions and £50 per month for individual Stakeholder Pensions, level commission and/or fund-related commission (payable monthly) is available.

Renewal Commission

Renewal commission commences at the end of the initial commission period ( which is 0 months as no initial commission is payable) and is unaffected by whether the initial commission is payable on non-indemnity or indemnity terms. The rate is 2.5% of the premium.

Yearly Premiums

The initial commission period ( which is 0 months as no initial commission is payable) for a yearly premium policy is the same as for a corresponding monthly premium policy. For example, if this were 30 months (two and a half years), and the yearly premium was £600, non-indemnity initial commission would be 35% of £600 in each of years 1 and 2 and half of that amount at the beginning of year 3. Renewal commission would also be payable in year 3 on the remaining half of the premium, and on the full premium hereafter.

Single Premiums

Premier Pensions (including Section 32)

Initial or fund-related (payable monthly) or a mixture of both, is available. The amount depends on factors such as the amount of contributions, commission enhancement rate, selected annual management charges and selected fund(s). Illustrations are available on this website.

Trustee Investment Plan

Initial at 4% of the single premium, subject to enhancement.
Alternatively, fund-related commission of 1.25% per annum of the fund value, payable quarterly, is available or a mixture of the two.

Note
The rates of commission apply to business transacted, or increases in premium effective, on or after 1 January 2003. They are for pensions originally sold through Scottish Amicable and now rebranded under Prudential.
Details of commission rates for those products which are no longer available for new business, including old pensions products available only for new entrants to existing schemes and for increments are available on request.
