Retirement has more potential with PRUDENTIAL

  • A portfolio needs to continue to be appropriate to meet an investor's needs – not just at the start of their investment, but as market conditions change.
  • A portfolio of funds needs to be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that the reasons for selecting each underlying fund, and the asset allocation, remain valid.
  • There is an increasing regulatory focus on how portfolio construction is managed and how this is matched to the investors needs.
  • Any investment needs to meet an investor's needs, be something they understand and are comfortable and confident in investing in.
  • Investor suitability requirements cannot be met by the analysis of historic return – instead there needs to be a demonstrable understanding of the ongoing management process and the balance of risk and return of any proposed investment.
  • Investors require access to regular information on their investment.
  • Market volatility has made investors more aware of risk and the need for solutions that can help manage this.
  • There are various types of risk that need to be understood – for example start point, journey and destination point risk.
  • Advisers need to use a choice of investment solutions to meet different investors' needs – one solution cannot fit all.
  • Prudential plc is an international financial services group with significant operations in Asia, the US and the UK. We serve over 26 million customers and have over £405 billion of assets under management (at 31 December 2012).
  • The Prudential Group is a global organisation with over 500 investment professionals around the world.
  • To manage our multi-asset funds we have a dedicated team of over 25 economists, investment strategists, analysts and mathematicians who are specialists in different areas of the investment world and support the different Multi-Asset funds we offer. They are called the Portfolio Management Group (PMG), are based in London and, as at the end of December 2012, manage over £145 billion of Prudential's Multi-Asset investments.
  • Our Portfolio Management Group (PMG) believes in the importance of asset allocation and the key role that Multi-Asset funds could provide as an investment solution for many investors.
  • When managing Multi-Asset funds they aim to minimise reliance on economic forecasting and instead they look for investment opportunities which are driven by irrational market behaviour.
  • PMG undertakes the ‘manager of managers' role for our Prudential Group funds, and over the years they have built a thorough and effective governance framework.

The PruSelect fund range

There are thousands of funds available today - each aiming to perform well and attract investors' money.

Fully researching and understanding this amount of fund choice can be both time consuming and expensive. Plus, it's an ever changing market - and a fund choice that may have been right a year ago may not be right today.

Alternatively, the work to do this could be arranged through a specialist research company, who may provide this service at a cost. With the aim of helping making fund choice easier we've asked Morningstar OBSR, to produce a list of funds that they believe are some of the best available today, and we're making these funds available through various Prudential products.

As Morningstar OBSR continue with their ongoing review process they have the choice to add or remove funds from this PruSelect range.

PruSelect Fund Range

Additional fund choice

Over the years we have built a range of funds to meet different needs. These include funds from both Prudential and external fund managers.

Many of these funds target different investor needs and aim to provide additional choice.
