A message from M&G plc Chief Executive John Foley
In these very difficult times, our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of colleagues and to continue to serve you and your clients to the best of our abilities.
Our detailed business continuity plans have been invoked to ensure that we can operate as usual in the face of the challenge posed by the spread of Covid-19.
The vast majority of M&G colleagues are now working from home with access to the full set of support systems and necessary equipment to do their jobs. Flexible working practices were put in place in most of our locations around the world a year ago, so our people are well-used to working remotely or from their homes.
Our people have ceased all but absolutely essential business travel, both internationally and between our offices. We have now closed our offices in the UK and Europe to all but essential workers. We are making wider use of digital meeting technology.
You will continue to receive regular updates on your clients savings, including their holdings in PruFund. Annuity payments will continue to be paid.
M&G remains fully committed to supporting the charities which are providing frontline services to our communities around the world. We are one of the founding partners of the National Emergencies Trust and we are channelling much of our support through its Coronavirus Appeal. This is raising funds for people in the UK who are particularly vulnerable to the impact of Covid-19 because they are in poverty or isolation. We have also made a corporate donation to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Covid-19 appeal to aid our international communities, with funding allocated to those countries with the most pressing needs to provide clinical or emergency social services to quarantined individuals.
In addition to our national and international emergency response, we are working with our existing charity partners, so that they can continue to deliver critical work in the communities they support. We are also working with our offices globally to ensure that local charities have the resources they need to respond to this crisis effectively.
As well as match-funding all colleagues’ charitable donations, we are delighted that many of our colleagues are volunteering their services to support the communities in which they live and we are working to ensure that they can do so safely and within government guidelines.
These are unprecedented times and they will require the very best from all of us.
Obviously, we will continue to monitor the situation closely throughout this Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring we adhere to official policies on tackling the virus and do the very best for our colleagues, you and your clients, and our communities.
Thank you for your continued support of M&G plc.
